The works of Abigail Wirth investigate the topic of neurodiversity and the experience of being an outsider. Her practice examines different personality types either preferred or marginalized by society and the underlying mechanism of the selection process. The first hand experience of an atypical, neurodivergent existence provides both the theoretical and the emotional background of her works. She finds the divide between extroverts and introverts similarly decisive as other existing social splits between privileged and disenfranchised groups. Since such phenomena are invisible, Abigail Wirth is dedicated to help making them more evident for the public through her art. She enjoys the process of creation in multiple disciplines using different techniques (painting, embroidery, textile, pottery etc.) and to experiment with re-contextualization.
